In 2020 the federal deficit soared to a record $3.1 trillion. That’s because the government spent $6.5 trillion but only collected $3.4 trillion in taxes and other revenue.

This spending spree has continued into 2021, with the federal government projected to spend $6.8 trillion — even higher than last year — while collecting just $3.8 trillion.

So we’re about to have back-to-back record-breaking deficit years, which is why I say that one thing you can bet on is that taxes will go up… a lot!

This is not a political statement. I’m simply pointing out that unless you have a solid tax strategy in place you will work even more days of the year to pay Uncle Sam.

To put it into perspective: right now the average American works from January 1 to April 16th just to pay for their taxes. That number will only go up from today...

This means that most people work 3.5 months out of the year just to pay their taxes.

But that’s not even the worst part…

The really scary part is that most people accept this reality as “normal.”

But the truth is this is not normal and it’s actually not the way our country has operated for most of its existence.

For example, from 1773 to 1943 (170 years) America was a low to 0% tax country. However, that all changed on June 9, 1943 when the government passed the Current Tax Payment Act to finance WWII.

This was the first time in history that the government could remove tax directly from your paycheck before you got paid… Now it seems “normal” to do that, right?

My point is that it’s important to question what “normal” is for you.

And remember, just because things are normal for most people doesn’t mean they have to be your normal.
